Sitting of the Gweedore coast in the heart of the Rosses, western Donegal. This excellent wee sea stack provides a 20m wall of absolutely immaculate sea battered granite of the same high quality as found on the neighbouring island of Gola.
There are currently 12 excellent 20m routes on this wall and all following the sea to summit features of corners and cracks. The wall can be safely climbed on in all but the most outrageous of sea conditions. Ascents have been made of these routes have been made of these routes with 25 foot seas running through the channel at the base of the wall.
Access is from the R257, pass Jacks Hotel as you leave Gweedore towards The Bloody Foreland and take the sharp left immediately after the hotel and follow the wee B road to the small pier carpark. From the pier on foot follow the coastal path north over serveral new bridges to the headland overlooking the Stack. Access to the land ward platforms on the stack is by a short sea passage across the channel in the lee of the stack.
By far the easiest way to access the base of the wall is by a short traverse out to sea from the landward side of the wall, just above the high tide mark. This takes you to an excellent recess below an open book corner and the perfect belay for all the routes on the main wall.
