Playing out in County Fermanagh for the weekend providing the Lowland Leader Award training course for the Fermanagh Ramblers. A full house of 8 troops on this training course and for the last weekend in October the weather could not have been better with blue sky and sunshine throughout the course.
The Lowland Leader Award is designed to allow people the best practise when leading and guiding others on lowland waymarked trails. The forest park and the grounds of Florence Court at the base of Cuilcagh Mountain provided an ideal location and collection of waymarked trails to base this course around. The path and trails around Florencecourt proved to be a suitably challenging training ground as the thick tree coverage provided greatly reduced visibility. With a mixture of new and old trails with some being unmarked, the navigational challenges on this training course were suitably taxing to allow a perfect learning environment throughout.
The Lowland Leader Award is ideal for youth Group leaders, community walk guides, Failte Ireland Tour Guides and Scout Troop leaders to give training on the best practice to group safety whilst in the lowland environment.
